Truist Park’s October ended on Wednesday, October 7. The Dodgers won Game 4 of the National League Division Series here 4-1 and took the series 3-1, so there was no Game 5 in Los Angeles and there is no more baseball in this building until the 2027 regular season.
How it went. Los Angeles won Game 1 on Saturday afternoon, October 3, 5-3, behind six innings from Tarik Skubal and home runs from Teoscar Hernández, Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy; Atlanta scored on a Sean Murphy solo shot and an Ozzie Albies two-run homer in the ninth. The Braves took Game 2 on Sunday night 3-2 at Dodger Stadium. Then Tuesday here: Yoshinobu Yamamoto went seven innings with ten strikeouts, Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman homered back to back in the fourth off Chris Sale, and Atlanta’s only run came out of a bases-loaded fifth on a groundout. Wednesday, Atlanta scored first and Los Angeles shut the Braves down from there, per Fox Sports, Andy Pages’ go-ahead single the hit that decided it, per Dodgers Digest. Atlanta got here by beating Philadelphia 6-2 in a winner-take-all Wild Card Game 3 in this building on October 1, in front of a sellout 41,731. The Braves won five of six from the Dodgers in the regular season, with a three-game sweep here in late August, and lost three of four to them in October.
The two home dates were consecutive. That reads like trivia and it was worth a hotel night.
Of the eight parks hosting a Division Series game this round, exactly two drew a dark day between their own home dates, and both are in the American League. Cleveland and St. Petersburg each hosted Games 1 and 2 on Saturday, October 3 and Monday, October 5, with Sunday the 4th empty in between. A fan going to both games in either city bought three nights to see two games and paid for a Sunday nobody wanted. Here the games were Tuesday and Wednesday with nothing between them, so one two-night stay covered the entire home stand. A fan who came for Game 4 alone bought one night, in Wednesday, out Thursday.
Arrival time was the decision, and it is the one to carry into 2027. A 6:00 p.m. first pitch on a weekday is earlier than it looks on a travel day. Hartsfield-Jackson to the Battery is a cross-town run straight into the evening commute, and the standing policy at Truist Park is two hours before first pitch for a night game. Land by mid-afternoon and you are fine. Land at four and you are watching the second inning from the Downtown Connector.
The Wednesday was never conditional, whatever the schedule’s asterisk said. A best-of-five only loses its fourth game on a 3-0 lead, and at 2-1 there was baseball in this building on October 7. It turned out to be the last of the year.
The cancellation-cutoff lesson from this series is the one worth keeping. Standard refundable terms were fine for both Atlanta nights because both were certain. The only conditional date in the series was Friday in Los Angeles, and it never happened. On a conditional night, take day-of terms or do not hold it.
A hotel search will not show you this, and in this market it matters more than usual, because the Battery has a concert hall in it.
What was not competing for rooms: the Falcons were in New Orleans on Monday night, October 5, and did not play at home until Sunday, October 11, against Baltimore. Atlanta United’s next home match was Saturday, October 10, against Cincinnati. Georgia Tech hosted Duke that same night. No event at the Georgia World Congress Center overlapped October 4 through 8 on the public calendars we could read on October 3. One caveat if you stretched the trip: Thursday the 8th was not clear downtown, with the Jonas Brothers on the State Farm Arena calendar at 7:30.
So this was not citywide pressure on the room supply. It was two buildings, and the Roxy was the one that shared your sidewalks.
Tuesday was the night the Roxy shared your sidewalk: a 6:00 p.m. first pitch ended near 9:00, the concert started at 8:15 and let out later, and the two exit waves hit the single rideshare zone on Windy Ridge Parkway an hour apart. Wednesday the Roxy was dark, so the postgame plaza was baseball people only, walking out of a season-ending loss, and the patios clear fast after one of those. The standing advice for any playoff night here: claim a table before you go into the park, or walk out to Cumberland.

Two hotels sit inside the Battery Atlanta: the Omni Hotel at the Battery, 234 rooms plus 30 suites, and the Aloft Atlanta at the Battery, 142 rooms. Call it 406 keys, total, against a ballpark that just announced a 41,731 sellout. That ratio is the single most useful number on this page, and it is why the Cumberland cluster further down is the realistic answer for most people rather than the consolation prize.
Check both Battery hotels anyway. Refundable reservations keep cancelling right up to their cutoff hour, which is how late rooms reappear in a district with no slack in it.
The 6:00 p.m. start also fixed the problem a late game creates here. Sunset in Atlanta on October 6 was about 7:16 p.m., and Wednesday’s was a minute or so earlier, so the first couple of innings ran in daylight and the temperature fell through the rest.
The bigger gain is the ride home. A finish near 9:00 p.m. lands well inside the free Cumberland Circulator’s service window. Cobb County lists Circulator Blue and Green at noon to midnight, Monday through Saturday, every 30 minutes on weekdays, fare-free, with stops at Truist Park and the Battery plus Cumberland Mall, Akers Mill Square, the Cobb Galleria and several Galleria-area hotels. Set that against the Wild Card finale, which went 8:15 first pitch, a 2:46 game, last out just past 11. That left under an hour of Circulator service with 30-minute headways, which is a bus you do not want to miss. A 6:00 p.m. start hands you roughly three hours of margin. Going intown, MARTA’s Route 12 links the Cumberland Transfer Center to Midtown station by way of Cobb Parkway and Howell Mill Road, running about 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekdays at 30-minute headways. We could not confirm the final Cumberland-to-Midtown departure, because MARTA’s own Route 12 page would not load for us on October 3. Check it in the Transit app before you build a late ride around it.
One more on driving: a 6:00 p.m. weekday first pitch puts you on I-75 and I-285 during Atlanta’s evening rush, and those two meet at the ballpark’s doorstep. This is the game shape where leaving absurdly early earns its keep.
A whole-home rental is a stronger play here than in most playoff towns, for a structural reason. The Battery has 406 hotel rooms. Smyrna, Vinings and Marietta have thousands of bedrooms inside a 10 to 15 minute drive. A crew of four or more in town for a series gets a three-bedroom with a driveway and a kitchen for less than two hotel rooms, plus a pregame that does not cost Battery menu prices.
Timing is the catch, and in October it bites. Vrbo hosts choose from seven standard cancellation tiers, so the terms belong to the property rather than the platform. Two of the seven survive a playoff date. Day-before refunds in full up to 24 hours before check-in. Lenient goes to five days out. The other five set their full-refund cutoff at 14 days or earlier, and Relaxed, the loosest of those, pays half back between 7 and 14 days and nothing inside a week. Playoff dates usually confirm days out, not weeks, which puts most of October inside all five. So the tier on the listing page is the whole decision, and we have not measured how often a house in a playoff market is running a loose one. Assume strict until the listing says otherwise.
Airbnb’s Flexible policy refunds in full until 24 hours before check-in, matching Vrbo’s Day-before tier, and either one clears a date that confirms late. The separate cancel-within-24-hours-of-booking grace period will not help on a playoff night, because it only applies when you booked at least seven days before check-in. Airbnb pays us nothing and we are saying it anyway. Four or more people on a certain date: price a rental against two hotel rooms before you book anything. Once the night is locked in, it is a straight cost comparison and nothing else.
Truist Park flips the usual suburban-stadium playbook. Most parks exiled from downtown strand you in parking lots; the Braves built a neighborhood instead. That changes the whole booking decision. The best rooms in Atlanta for a Braves series aren’t in Atlanta proper.
The district that surrounds the park: restaurants, bars, the Coca-Cola Roxy concert hall, offices, apartments, and hotels, with the Omni rising right over the outfield. Stay here and the trip runs itself. Land the day before, park once or skip the car entirely, walk to dinner, walk to the game, walk home. No traffic, no surge pricing, no logistics at all. The district stays alive on non-game days too (concerts, watch parties on the plaza, a full restaurant lineup), so a three-night stay doesn’t die when the team’s off. That convenience is priced in and the supply is small, so Battery rooms are the first in the region to go for any big series. Book them the day your dates firm up. This is the call for first-timers, groups, and anyone whose weekend is built around the baseball. The only fans who should pass: anyone who wants Atlanta itself, meaning museums, intown food, and nightlife past midnight, because the Battery is a district, not a city.
Miss the Battery and you lose almost nothing. The hotel cluster around Cobb Parkway and Circle 75, near Cumberland Mall and the Galleria office towers, puts a deep bench of major-brand properties within a 10-20 minute flat walk of the gates. Some run game-day shuttles to the park, and the fare-free Cumberland Circulator bus loops through the district with a stop at Truist Park. Rates typically run meaningfully below the Battery for near-identical logistics. This is where visiting fans concentrate (expect Phillies and Mets jerseys at the breakfast buffet on a rivalry weekend), and it’s the value call of the whole market.
Ten miles south, and the opposite trade. Midtown is Atlanta’s best walkable neighborhood, with restaurants, Piedmont Park, and actual city energy. But every game means a rideshare up I-75, 25 minutes on a clear day and 30-45 when it isn’t, which on game nights it isn’t. Pick Midtown when the trip is half baseball, half Atlanta, or when you’re mixing a game into a work trip. For a three-game series, the round trips add up fast.
North of Midtown, closer to the ballpark as the crow flies but still car-bound. Buckhead is the upscale play: high-end hotels, steakhouses, malls. The drive to Truist runs shorter than from Midtown when the highways cooperate. Same honest math though: you’re paying city-hotel rates and still buying two rideshares a day. It works best for fans who want a nicer room than the Cumberland cluster offers and don’t mind the ride.
The option most Braves pages skip. Cobb County’s hotel supply near the ballpark is two Battery properties plus the Cumberland cluster, and that’s it; the residential supply behind it is enormous. Smyrna and Vinings sit 10 to 15 minutes from the gates, Marietta a little farther up I-75, and whole-home listings there run to three- and four-bedroom houses with driveways and kitchens. For four or more people on a multi-night stay the math usually beats two hotel rooms outright, and the driveway is the closest thing this market has to tailgating, since Truist Park has no tailgate-lot culture to speak of.
Two things to weigh honestly. You’re driving to the game, which means you’re in the postgame garage exit you booked the Battery to avoid, so budget for a rideshare in and out on at least one night. Say it plainly: Truist Park sits 10 miles northwest of downtown with no rail service. MARTA gets you close (Route 12 bus connects MARTA rail to the Cumberland Transfer Center), and from there CobbLinc covers the last leg, including the fare-free Cumberland Circulator loop that stops at the park. It works and it’s cheap, but budget real time each way and don’t cut it close on the way back, because the return leg means catching a bus, then a bus, then a train. If you’re staying intown without a car, rideshare is the realistic mode; treat the transit route as the backup that saves you when surge pricing gets offensive.
The Cumberland cluster’s quiet advantage: several Galleria-area hotels run game-day shuttles to the ballpark, some free, some for a few dollars a head, typically starting a couple hours before first pitch. Policies change season to season, so confirm when you book, but a working shuttle turns a mid-priced Cumberland hotel into door-to-door service the Battery itself can’t beat on price.
The Battery has multiple parking garages (the Red Deck sits closest to the park) plus outlying lots, all managed for the Braves with online pre-purchase. Rates swing hard between a Tuesday game and a rivalry weekend, so pre-book; drive-up pricing on big dates will make you regret improvising. I-75 and I-285 meet practically at the ballpark’s doorstep, and both clog from mid-afternoon on game days. Coming from downtown or Midtown, the reversible express lanes on I-75 can rescue the trip northbound. Worth the toll on a game night. Whatever you do, leave earlier than feels necessary; the last mile off the interchange is where the time goes.
