First, the flag we have to plant: the 2026 Arizona Bowl doesn’t have an announced date yet. The official 2026-27 bowl schedule release listed the game as still being scheduled, and nothing had changed when we updated this page on August 8. The 2025 edition kicked off Saturday, December 27 at Casino Del Sol Stadium on The CW, so late December is the working assumption — but don’t buy nonrefundable anything for this game until the date is official. Everything below is the part that doesn’t change: the city, the logistics, and how to book a bowl whose date arrives late.

Tucson, not Phoenix

The Arizona Bowl is played at Arizona Stadium on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson, wearing the Casino Del Sol Stadium name. Tucson is its own city, two hours southeast of Phoenix down I-10, with its own airport, its own weather, and — relevant to you — its own much cheaper hotel market. Arizona’s other December bowls are elsewhere: the Cactus Bowl in Tempe and the CFP-quarterfinal Fiesta Bowl in Glendale. Fans mix these up every year and book hotels a hundred miles from their game. This page is Tucson only.

Where to stay

Main Gate Square and the campus edge. The hotel pocket at the university’s front door, walkable to the stadium in 10–15 minutes. Small inventory, first to go once the matchup lands, and the right call if the game is the whole trip.

Downtown / Congress Street. Tucson’s revived core, about two miles west of the stadium: the historic Hotel Congress era architecture, a genuinely good bar-and-restaurant strip, and most of the city’s newer hotels. The Sun Link streetcar connects downtown, the Fourth Avenue district, Main Gate Square, and campus on one line — so you can stay on Congress Street and reach the stadium without a car.

Fourth Avenue (between the two). The funky strip linking downtown to campus, light on hotels but heavy on rentals, coffee, and the pre-game bar scene. If you’re in a rental here you’re on the streetcar line and inside the whole weekend’s footprint.

The resort ring. Tucson’s foothills resorts — the winter-golf-and-spa tier in the Catalina foothills, 20–30 minutes out — turn this into a proper desert vacation. Late December is high season for them, but Tucson’s version of high season still undercuts Scottsdale’s by a wide margin.

Getting in

Tucson International (TUS) sits about 15 minutes south of campus; it’s a small airport with limited nonstops, so check it first but expect Phoenix Sky Harbor to win on schedule and fare from most of the country. The PHX play means a two-hour drive down I-10 — flat, fast, and easy to split among a group with a rental car, which you may want anyway for Saguaro National Park, which brackets the city east and west and is the best half-day add-on in bowl season. Game day itself is simple: campus lots and garages, or the streetcar from downtown, or a short rideshare from anywhere above.

Game day

The Arizona Bowl is the rare bowl that behaves like a festival — since Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop took title sponsorship in 2024, the game has leaned into music, celebrity appearances, and a downtown-Tucson party footprint that starts well before kickoff. Expect mid-60s afternoon sun, a sharp chill once the sun drops behind the stadium rim, and one of the friendlier price points in college football for tickets, beer, and everything else. Mountain West vs. MAC means two fanbases who travel modestly; the crowd fills out with Tucsonans treating it as the city’s holiday event, which is honestly the charm of it.

Booking a bowl with no date yet

This one runs backward from the normal playbook. Step one is the date announcement — watch this page or the bowl’s channels; whenever it lands, that’s your starting gun, because the matchup still won’t arrive until Selection Sunday, December 6. Tucson hotels barely move for the announcement itself; the compression, such as it is, comes in the 48 hours after December 6 and concentrates in the small campus-edge pocket. The practical sequence: hold a refundable room downtown or at Main Gate for the likely window (December 26–28, going by the 2025 edition), book flights only once the date is official, and re-shop everything after Selection Sunday. In a market this cheap, refundable rates cost almost nothing extra, which makes the waiting game painless.

Vacation rentals

Tucson is a casita town. The historic neighborhoods around campus — Sam Hughes to the east, West University between campus and Fourth Avenue — are full of guesthouse and bungalow rentals, many walkable to the stadium, most priced under what two hotel rooms cost anywhere else in bowl season. For groups, this is the best rental value on the December calendar. Winter is Tucson’s snowbird season, so multi-night minimums show up on the nicer listings; couples doing one night will usually do better in a hotel once fees stack. Our year-round Arizona Stadium hotel guide covers the campus-area market in more depth.

FAQ

When is the 2026 Arizona Bowl?

Not announced yet as of our August 8, 2026 update — the game was still being scheduled when the initial 2026-27 bowl slate came out. The 2025 edition was played Saturday, December 27, so late December is the safe assumption. We'll update this page the day the date drops; until then, hold plans refundable.

Where is the Arizona Bowl played?

Arizona Stadium, on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson, playing under the Casino Del Sol Stadium name for bowl purposes. That's Tucson — two hours southeast of Phoenix by car, with its own airport. Don't book Phoenix hotels for this game.

Should I fly into Tucson or Phoenix?

Tucson (TUS) if the fares are close — it's about 15 minutes from campus. Phoenix (PHX) has far more nonstops and often cheaper seats, at the cost of a two-hour drive down I-10. For a group splitting a rental car, PHX plus the drive frequently wins on total price.

Who plays in the Arizona Bowl?

The tie-ins are Mountain West vs. MAC, with the matchup set on Selection Sunday, December 6, 2026. Snoop Dogg's Gin & Juice brand has been the title sponsor since 2024, and the bowl leans into it — this is the game where the sponsor genuinely shows up.

What's Tucson like in late December?

About as pleasant as American December gets: typically mid-60s and sunny by afternoon, chilly after dark, dry. It's also one of the cheapest bowl-city hotel markets, since Tucson's big annual demand spike (the February gem show) is weeks away.

When is the 2026 The Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl?

Date TBA — the official 2026-27 schedule release listed this game as still being scheduled; the 2025 edition was played Saturday, December 27, on The CW. Exact kickoff times are announced with the matchups; hotel demand starts moving the moment the participating teams are selected in early December.

When should I book a hotel for the 2026 The Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl?

Book a refundable rate the day your team accepts the bid. Fan bases get roughly three weeks' notice, and Tucson rates climb steadily from selection day to kickoff. Free-cancellation bookings let you lock today's price with no risk.
