The Cure Bowl trades downtown Orlando for a college campus in 2026. With Camping World Stadium torn up for renovation, the December 22 game lands at UCF’s Acrisure Bounce House in East Orlando, a 5 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN, American Conference against the Sun Belt. It’s a better football setting than its resume suggests, a tight campus stadium with a reputation for literally bouncing when the crowd gets going, and a worse hotel setting, because East Orlando is suburbia, not a bowl district. Plan around that trade and the trip is easy.
The bowl itself has a purpose worth knowing before you go: since its 2015 debut it has existed to raise money for cancer research, and the cause is present through the whole event, not just the branding. StaffDNA holds the title for 2026. General-public tickets go on sale December 6.
Waterford Lakes (closest). The nearest real hotel pocket, about 10 minutes from campus around the Waterford Lakes Town Center shopping district. It’s a modest cluster of mid-range chains with every big-box restaurant known to Florida, and it exists to serve exactly this kind of trip: park, sleep, short drive to the game. Book here if the bowl is the trip.
Downtown Orlando (the fun option). Twenty-five to 30 minutes west of campus, with real restaurants, bars along Church Street and in Thornton Park, and the hotel depth that East Orlando lacks. The right base if you want a night out attached to a 5 p.m. game, since the drive back downtown after the final whistle beats the drive out to the parks.
I-Drive and the parks (only if the parks are the point). Orlando’s enormous resort corridor sits southwest of downtown, 40-plus minutes from UCF in Christmas-week traffic, at Christmas-week prices. Families doing Disney-plus-bowl should base near the parks and treat game day as the excursion. Everyone else should stay out of that traffic shed entirely.
The vacation-rental card plays well here for groups. East Orlando’s neighborhoods around UCF, Oviedo, and Avalon Park list plenty of suburban houses, and Orlando at large has one of the biggest short-term-rental inventories anywhere. A four-bedroom 15 minutes from the stadium routinely undercuts two hotel rooms during Christmas week, when the rental market’s pricing pressure is all pointed at the parks, not at UCF. Standard caveat: hold a refundable hotel rate until the matchup makes the trip certain.
Orlando International is about 30 minutes from campus via the 417 toll road, and this is a driving trip; no transit worth planning around reaches UCF. Rideshares run fine in both directions, with only mild postgame surge by big-bowl standards.

For bowl day, campus lots handle parking with typical college efficiency: arrive an hour-plus early, follow the event signage, and expect the exit to take a while if the game draws well. A 5 p.m. Tuesday kickoff means you’re driving in against the tail of Orlando’s commute, so pad the trip from downtown or the airport by 20 minutes.
Late-December weather is Orlando’s best product: typically low 70s by day, cooling through the game into light-jacket territory. The stadium is open-air and all of it is close to the field; there isn’t a bad sightline in the building.
Matchups land around Selection Day, Sunday, December 6, and tickets go on sale the same day. The hotel market gives you slack that most Christmas-week destinations don’t: Orlando’s supply is so deep, and so concentrated away from UCF, that East Orlando and downtown rooms hold reasonable rates even days out. The genuine constraints are flights, because MCO three days before Christmas is one of the busiest airports in the country and fares climb weekly, and the walkable-ish Waterford Lakes cluster, which is small enough to sort out first when an in-state or drivable fanbase gets the bid.
Sequence it: flights when the pairing drops, refundable room the same day, and if you’re bolting the parks onto the trip, buy those tickets before the holiday-week pricing tiers kick in. The football part of this trip is the easy part.
