Boca’s lodging supply is thin and expensive by design: a handful of resorts and boutique properties priced for winter escapees, with December rates that hold firm regardless of what the MAC and the American send to town. Hotel revenue managers here aren’t reacting to the bowl announcement on December 6, because the bowl crowd is a rounding error against seasonal beach demand. That reshapes the usual bowl-booking playbook. There’s no cheap-early window to catch after Selection Day. The discount lives in geography instead.
Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach (the value beach). Fifteen to 25 minutes south on I-95 or A1A, with oceanfront and near-beach hotels that consistently undercut Boca for an equivalent stretch of sand. This is where most traveling fans should book. You get the beach half of the trip at a survivable rate and a short morning drive to campus.
Fort Lauderdale (the full-trip base). Thirty to 40 minutes south, with the region’s deepest hotel inventory, the restaurant and nightlife scene, and the closest major airport. If the bowl is one day of a four-day South Florida trip, base here and treat game day as an excursion up I-95.
Boca Raton itself (pay for the short morning). Staying in town buys you a 10-minute game-day drive and Mizner Park’s restaurant row for the night before. If the budget allows it, it’s a lovely trip. Just go in knowing you’re paying resort-season prices for a Group of Five bowl.
The vacation-rental angle is stronger here than at almost any bowl on the calendar. This stretch of Broward and Palm Beach County is wall-to-wall winter rental condos, and a beach condo in Deerfield or Pompano routinely beats two hotel rooms for a family or a foursome, especially across multiple nights. The catch in December: owners know it’s high season, minimum-stay settings get aggressive, and cancellation terms are stiffer than a refundable hotel rate. If your trip depends on your team actually being selected, hold a refundable hotel room first and shop rentals only once the matchup is real.
Fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, about 30 to 40 minutes south of campus; Palm Beach International is a similar distance north and often quieter. West Palm works especially well paired with a Boca or Delray stay.

Carless travelers have a real option in Brightline, whose trains stop in downtown Boca Raton, leaving a short rideshare to campus, but for a morning game the train-plus-rideshare chain adds failure points a car doesn’t have.
Then there’s the best scheduling quirk in bowl season: the game ends mid-afternoon. You get a full South Florida evening. The move regulars make is beach or pool until sunset, then dinner at Mizner Park in Boca or back down in Fort Lauderdale.
Selection Day is Sunday, December 6, and the pairing, American versus MAC or a Group of Five at-large, follows in the days around it. Book in this order: refundable beach-area room in November if you’re going regardless; flights when the matchup drops; and only then decide whether to trade the hotel for a rental condo.
